Our littlest girl, Margaret, turned 1 this week, and she is just beginning to take her first steps. She gets lots of hand-me-down toys and clothes from her big sisters, but it was important to us that she have new shoes of her very own. It's easy for the soles of shoes to compress and form to shape of the foot, causing little toe imprints or heel dents. Young kids have soft, rapidly growing feet that will try to fit into those spaces, so it's definitely preferable to have a fresh pair of shoes.
