Fotos Alhambra
Tile work and calligraphy in the Mexuar Hall, Alhambra, Granada, Spain; 14th century. This room has undergone major changes since its foundation, but the exquisite painted ceramic tile work and continuous band of calligraphy remains. We see many typical Islamic motifs, including geometric designs, such as the eight-pointed star, the use of bold colors, a focus on symmetry, and a sense of infinite repetition.
