Vasco Fernandes, Grão Vasco, (Viseu, 1475-1542) was the leading figure of Portuguese painting of the sixteenth century. In its work, S. Sebastian, The Baptism of Christ, Pentecost, The Calvary and S. Peter, there is a Renaissance influence, but also the drama and their creative power so characteristic. Are still assigned other paintings: Santa Luzia (National Museum Soares Reis), The Supper (Grão Vasco Museum), The Assumption of the Virgin (National Museum of Ancient Art).
