Ramses II smiting his enemies. This painted limestone block, showing Ramses II smiting his enemies, came from Memphis. He is holding his enemies by their hair, and is ready to smite them with his axe. The enemies´faces reveal a Libyan, a Nubian and a Syrian, and one is represented with frontal view, thereby breaking the traditional rule of showing faces in profile. 19th dynasty, from Memphis.
