WALK WITH LOVE by TONY CHIN

Melba Liston album cover.

Melba Liston played trombone with jazz "greats" such as Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Gerald Wilson, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon, and the Jazz Messengers. She also composed and arranged music with pianist Randy Weston. Two of their most impressive works were Uhuru Afrika (1960) and Highlife (1963). She is not well-known in jazz history, although her impact should make her also one of the jazz "greats."
