Beautiful early war sixth plate ruby ambrotype of a Federal infantry officer. Dressed in his spanking new frock. His forage cap has infantry insignia pinned to the front but it doesn't look like there are any numerals present. A pencil inscription behind the image dates when the image was taken and the place as Sept. 18th, 1861 in Reading, PA.
