Thomas Coleman Younger was the oldest of the Youngers and, next to the James brothers, a key figure in the James-Younger Gang. As a soldier and a Confederate partisan during the Civil War, he rode with Quantrill's Raiders and took part in the infamous massacre of two hundred men and boys in Lawrence, Kansas. After the war, he targeted banks belonging to former Union officers and Republican politicians.
Joshua Chamberlain (September 8, 1828 - February 24, 1914), American college Professor from the State of Maine who volunteered during the Civil War to join the Union Army, reaching the rank of Brigadier General. For his gallantry at Gettysburg, he was awarded the Medal of Honor.

Civil War Jesse James fought the Jayhawkers from Lawrence, Ks. Kansas was a free state where many Black families moved to be safe. Part of Missouri was for slave owners - mostly in the southern part and the northern Missourians generally went with the Abolitionists. James gang fought for the south.
