Color My Own Karyotype: This activity is great for explaining independent assortment. It clearly shows how chromosomes are inherited from grandparents to create a unique individual! My students use this to color chromosomes and create their own karyotype posters and we display them on the wall to show how independent assortment creates unique individuals.
