#1 Namdaemun, officially the Sungnyemun, is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which surrounded the city in the Joseon Dynasty. The gate, which was begun in the 14th century, is a historic pagoda-style gateway, and is now listed first among the National Treasures of South Korea. Helsingborg is one of the oldest cities in Sweden, with a history going back to the first permanent settlement established there in 1085. As such its medieval quarters is full of historic buildings. They include Kärnan, a 600-year-old medieval tower that is the only remainder of the fortress that has protected the town. Today many of the alleyways and streets in the center of Helsingborg have been converted into pedestrian malls.
