Thelma Ritter -1902-1969 - 45 years old when she made her first film.1st was an uncredited part in Miracle on 34th Street. 2nd role, A Letter to Three Wives, also brief, uncredited. 3rd, as Birdie in "All About Eve, and got a much deserved Academy Award nomination. Thelma had five other supporting actress nominations in her career. She never won the award but she was highly respected in Hollywood. Thank goodness Hitchcock recognized her talent - can't imagine Rear Window without her!
