Athena - Greek goddess of warfare, and patroness of Athens. Often associated with the owl. In Homer's epic poem "the Odyssey," it is Athena who aids Odysseus on his journey home, thus counterbalancing the ill-will of the sea god Poseidon.
Athena was the Goddess of metal smiths, potters, weavers, and goldsmiths, similar to the Celtic Goddess, Brigit. She was credited with inspiration to shipbuilders. To promote agricultural development, Athena taught the Greeks how to make such tools as the ox yoke, the rake, and the plow. She gave the olive tree to Athens, her sacred city, which in turn promoted the Greeks' prosperous cultivation of the olive crop. The Magical Circle School http://www.themagicalcircle.net
