June 10 full length by GungFace ...an enormous 15 metre tall baobab tree sculpture in Southbank, as part of the Festival of the World exhibition. Each ring is made by people and material from around the globe. I read up a little on its history - the baobab tree is the oldest living specimen in Africa, a symbol for meditation and community.
Light Circuits: Depending on the grade level of the students, you can have them build a very simple circuit or a very complex circuit with both series and parallel circuits combined. For my students I have them use file folders in order to design and build a series on one side, then a parallel on the other with certain parameters for the switches. The students have an amazing time and there is always 100% participation and together we saved those lights from a trip to the landfill!
Kid craft idea. With my 4 year old daughter I am thinking that I will probably stick the cutout to piece of paper and let her go to town panting around it and then take off the stuck part for a wow effect. Anyone has a good idea how to "stick" so it gives a good silhouette and I can still peel it off later without damaging the paper? :)
