History: Holidays. In this picture, we see a celebration of Independence day in Madagascar. Madagascar independence day is one of the top holidays in Madagascar. Independence day is around the time of a rice harvest when food is plentiful and everyone has money from their crops. To celebrate independence day Malagasy have special foods, dancing, and games. On the night before independence day, children run around in the streets with either paper lanterns, candles, or flashlights.
