This week I'm happy to share with you how a Valentine's Day gift to my students — a plastic cup filled with office supplies and valentine candy — kept my students engaged and learning for three hours of class time. Artist Trading Cards by fifth grade. This student is using magazines, painted paper, drawing, old books etc. to collage their cards. Their finished cards, and cards they have already traded are in a plastic sports trading card sleeve. The top two cards in their sleeve were created by me and traded with my student for their cards.

Students bring in a peeled apple in a ziploc bag with a couple drops of lemon or orange juice. We use the colored paperclips (different color for each class) opened (so they look like a candy cane shape), and then hooked at bottom.
