In 2013 2 of @yaelmtzvs brothers-in-law disappeared in Iguala Mexico. The familys heartbreak was compounded when a 3rd brother died in jail while awaiting trial on drug charges. A Family’s Loss, Mexico’s Tragedy

Sandra Granda, 19, at home in Guerrero, Mexico. In 2013, she lost three of her brothers. Ignacio and David disappeared in Iguala, Mexico, and Beto mysteriously died in jail while awaiting trial on drug charges. Ms. Granda is the sister-in-law of the photographer, Yael Martínez. In order to relate his family’s experiences to what has been convulsing his country, Mr. Martínez looked inward, producing a series of images that are quiet, personal and haunting.
