Bertrand Bookstore in Lisbon, Portugal is the world's oldest bookstore. It opened in 1732 in another location before the earthquake of 1755 destroyed almost all of Lisbon. Seismologists today estimate the magnitude of the quake between 8.5 and 9. The bookstore was moved to its present day location in 1773.
