AN ITALIAN RAPIER C.1570-80 ,The 16th century rapier evolved in different forms depending on its function. Civilian weapons were of relatively light proportions. This fine example represents its evolution as a weapon of the armored horseman. It is truly a hand and a half sword. Its blade is struck both sides with the crowned MS mark of Caino, the famed Milanese bladesmith.
