GREEN TEA The less oxidation teas go through in their natural fermentation process the greener they are and the more “flavonoids” (antioxidants) they bring to your organism. Okinawa elders drink a lot of green Jasmine tea (green tea leaves mixed with Jasmine flowers) – they say the more you have the better you feel and the more health benefits you get.
If you feel like “A ROOM WITHOUT A ROOF” is a statement, which so expresses the ZEITGEIST, especially associated with “HAPPY” – name of the song of Pharrell Williams that reached the top of many many charts!!! You need to reap all that is for free and make the most of the moment... This artist is so to the point! http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/entertainment/248126891.html
5 REAL FEELINGS – A COMPENSATION IS NOT A TREAT Understanding which of the 5 REAL FEELINGS is / are causing our reaction to anything that triggered an emotion in us – for example any stress we experience in our daily lives – avoids us going into compensation modes, like eating without hunger or letting off steam onto others. Paul van ’t Veld, my wonderful THNK coach, shared these 5 real feelings with me: happy, sad, angry, gut feeling and fear. (photo: Miguel Cravo)
EGGS AND HAIR Two things that just don’t sound too good together... But, done in the right way, once a month, these two can really add value – mix egg yolk with honey in one bowl and the egg white with lemon in another. On the wet, washed hair apply the egg white with lemon mixture to the scalp and the egg yolk and honey mixture to the hair – leave 20 minutes and rinse with COLD water (if you use warm water you will be in trouble). Beats conditioners...
SPICE UP YOUR LIFE Spices bring a magic dimension to life... a little like the potions in fairy tales. They also bring regeneration, at least some of them! Curcuma (Turmeric) is an incredible spice, taken for its healing powers by the Okinawan people as well as many a wise nutritionist. Cardamom is another, very tasty and nutritionally relevant. I integrate them in many dishes and treats!!
When I discovered and introduced Peter d’Adamo “Eat right 4 your (Blood) Type” diet in our home, my entire family wanted to divorce me... children especially! Nonetheless, 10 years on, my children having actually moved out... (not for this reason though!!) I am still convinced this approach to selecting your food is sound, robust and meaningful. Check out his food encyclopaedia: http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/typeindexer.htm
OKINAWA’s GOLDEN RULES: MAY THE FOOD HEAL YOU If you are among the 12% of the world’s population that has no religion you probably would do well creating some rituals around appreciating what good things your life brings you – many people say “grace” before they enjoy their meal – you may just say to those who share your meal with - like they do in Okinawa: “May the food heal you”.
FREED NUTRITION (BEFREITE ERNÄHRUNG) Christian Opitz is an expert in nutrition who, in my view, has identified the key routine to quality of life and longevity in the context our western civilized world... I have been following his teachings for 1 year now and I feel very energetic, I need less sleep on a regular basis, I have been robust and healthy – all this in a period of extreme stress and transformation! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2dQI_H_36Q
WHAT DO I NEED? My amazing Coach at THNK, Paul van t’Veld, has taught me a very interesting line of questioning and coming closer with what really has meaning for me: WHAT DO I NEED? And this has become an on going and enormously energizing exercise. Far from self-centeredness resulting, this coming closer to my needs is allowing to identify and achieve my goals more effectively and therefore serve society much better. Thank you Paul and THNK!
