I'm also going to sort of settle the butter versus margarine debate. Which one is healthiest? Which one should you cook with? Which is going to be for your cholesterol. Guys, I'm Doctor Jen. Let's start, okay? We got a lot to talk about. Let's just jump right into the list of the healthiest oils to cook with, okay? These oils have more of the good fats, less of the saturated fats which are fats we don't want you to have and tend to be better for you if you have to cook with an oil. Now, if you don't have to cook with oil, don't cook with oil but if you do, these are some some better ones. Number one, canola oil, okay? Number two, corn oil. It makes me happy coming from the state of Iowa and I love corn. Number three, nope, no particular order by the way. Number three is olive oil. That probably does not surprise you though. Number four is peanut oil. My mom actually was just asking about that one this morning. Number five is safflower oil. S A F F L O W E R oil. Uh the next one is soybean oil and the next one is sunflower oil. Again, and no particular order. Those are some great ones. Now, there are few others I wanted to mention. By the way, the source for everything in this video comes from the American Heart Association. All of this information is courtesy of Heart. org. Their website is so awesome and where all this information is coming from. Now, there's also some other good ones but they can be a little bit expensive or maybe harder to find but I did want to mention them. That's avocado oil, that's a good one. Grapeseed oil, rice brand oil, and sesame oil, okay? Those are also better oils than some of the ones that are not so great, okay? Um also, in general, you can use like a vegetable oil, okay? Like if it just says vegetable oil, okay? That tends to be a better option. You can also use many of the cooking sprays that are made from the oils, many of the oils I just mentioned. So, that's something I use when cooking as I tend to use the cooking spray. That's how I like to cook, okay? Um according to the American Heart Association, you want to choose an oil that ideally has less than four grams of saturated fat per tablespoon. You be able to look on the bottle and get an idea of how much saturated fat. Uh so less than four grams per tablespoon. You don't want oils with partially hydrogenated oils or trans fats. That's super important, okay? Now, when it comes to oils that you don't want to use, okay? And then we're going to go to the butter versus margarine debate. Oils that you do not want to use that I do not want you to use because they tend to have more of the bad fats and fats that can sort of increase your cholesterol and things like that. You want to stay away from palm oil or palm kernel oil. You also want to stay away from coconut oil. We call these tropical oils, okay? Um it's really really important that you keep this in mind guys. Stay away from these or other tropical oils because they can really do a number on your cholesterol, okay? Alright. Now, butter versus margarine. We're going to keep this super quick but this is very very important. I know some people think it's better to eat butter. Some people think it's better to eat margarine. Um this is the thing. Butter has a lot or basically a high amount of saturated fat and trans fats. Not good for your cholesterol. Okay? It it can raise your LDL cholesterol can raise your cholesterol. Butter not a great choice. But when it comes to margarine all margarines are not created equally. That's right. The harder the margarine is harder meaning like in terms of in terms of how hard it is. The harder the margarine the less healthy it is when it comes to saturated fats and trans fats. So hard margarine has high amounts of saturated in trans fats well. So, it's similar to butter in that sense. So, what do you go for butter versus margarine? Well, you want to go for if those are the two options you have. You want to go for margarine but you want to avoid the hard margarine. Instead, go for liquid or soft tub margarine. Very important that tends to be made with vegetable oils. So interesting, right? Guys, all of this information is courtesy of Heart. org. That's the American Heart Association. Make sure you check out that website for more cooking ideas. Uh hope this video was helpful. Let me know in the comments if you liked it, if it was helpful. Let me know what you cook with. I'm going to show you how to do the Epimaneuver, a home treatment for BPPV or benign paraxysmal positional vertigo. We're going to do it for the right ear as if the right side is the affected side. So, first thing you want to do, you want to get whether it's a couch or a bed or what have you. Uh you want to have a pillow as well and a flat surface. So, since we're going to do the right side. First thing I do, I'm going to go ahead and sit down. Oh and I left something major out. I actually didn't tell you what BPPV V is which is benign paraxysmal positional vertigo. Which basically means the person gets dizzy or sort of feels protiginous with head turning. So usually it's turning of the head that causes the dizziness. I'm going to go ahead and sit down. Bring your legs around. Okay so if you're in the bed you want to be sort of in the middle of the bed. Um and you want to turn your head 45 degrees to the affected side. We're doing the right side. I'm turning it 45 degrees to the affected side which is the You see, I haven't quite reached my shoulder yet but this is the direction. Once you do that, you're going to lay back but the key is you lay back where the pillow is located in sort of the middle of your back, not where your head is so that your head hangs over. So, I lay back and you see how my head is actually hanging off the pillow. This is what you want. You hold your head here 30 to 60 seconds. You might feel dizzy if you do wait til you're done and then the 30 to 60 seconds, alright? My head is still turn 45 degrees. The next thing I do is I turn my head 90 degrees from where I was, okay? That kind of puts me towards this angle, okay? The same thing here, you might feel dizzy, waited out, then 30 to 60 seconds you want to wait. Once you've done that, you actually want to roll onto your side, okay? And as you roll into your side, you want to sort of tuck your head in and just roll to your side and you want to stay like this for 30 to 60 seconds as well and once you've done this, then you can go ahead and sit up but notice how we sit we're actually facing this direction, okay? You see how we ended up in a different place than what we started. This is the epi maneuver and this was the epile maneuver for the right side. If you have a lesion on the left side, if that's the problem area, you would actually start your epi maneuver turning to the left. First, instead of turning to the right and doing everything the opposite sequence. If you're not sure which side is the affected side for you, your doctor can help you sort of figure that out. Um also remember that some people who do the epileuva to treat their BPPV. Uh some people get really nauseous and may have some vomiting with it because it can reproduce the dizziness that you've been struggling with. Um many doctors will prescribe a series of of times doing the epile maneuver whether it's two to three times in a day or or what have you. Um suffice it to say what's really important is that while this is a home treatment for BPPV, you still want to make sure you get a proper diagnosis. You want to make sure you know why you're dizzy. I could be this, it could be something else. I have other videos on dizziness, other videos on BBBV just to discuss it. So you want to make sure you get that proper diagnosis and also instruction on how you should proceed. If with your BBBV this epi maneuver doesn't work there are other things that can be done such as vestibular therapy etcetera. So that's why your doctor really should be involved. But I hope this was helpful and and showing you how to do the epi maneuver. Guys I'm Doctor Jen Caudle. Let me know if you knew this. If you do this. If you had to do it. If you've got benign pair Positional vertigo. Um and let me know what your experience has been. Uh if you've not liked and followed my page please do.
