RAYA RESTAURANT Those who know Raya Restaurant in Phuket Town have probably dined there because of the Pork Stew with Garlic and Pepper, which is famous in its own right. Located on New Debuk Road just as you getting to the centre of Phuket Town is Raya Thai Cuisine housed in a wonderfully old colonial style house. A meal there is sort of like eating in a living historical Thai museum with outstanding tasting food.

It has been owned by the same family for three generations and the place is absolutely heaving during the lunch hour. Mee Ton Poh is a basic local Thai restaurant that serves cheap food with real traditional Phuket food. Table seating is simple but the proof is in the authentic taste of every dish and value-for-money prices.

PHUKET WEEKEND MARKET Phuket Weekend Market is located on Chao Fa West Road just outside Phuket Town not far from Central Festival. It is a fascinating maze of used goods, nicknakes, handicrafts with a few live animals thrown in for good measure. And of course there is also large amount of great local Thai food on offer.

MOOR MU DONG RESTAURANT Moor Mu Dong restaurant is a unique garden restaurant serving original local food in a rustic setting. It consists of a collection of ‘salas’ – Thai style bamboo huts – where diners sit on mats and eat off low tables. It’s famous for seafood and salted crispy pork belly. Moor Mu Dong is near Palai Seafood past the Phuket Zoo in Chalong.
