Economy: Rice is India’s biggest import and it has been for a long time. The rice we find at our local stores could be from India. They use the rice they grow as a huge financial support for regular people and the government. Many Indian foods se rice and it is very popular among Indian citizens so the farmers there grow very good rice t eat an import to far countries.
Economy: The Taj Mahal is the most famous tourist spot in all of India. Many people travel all the way to India to see this building. Making costed 52.8 billion rupees as it is made out of marble. The construction began in 1632. The Tomb is a place that is most famous because of how long it originates back to.
Government: The constitution is the supreme law of India. In came into effect on January 26, 1950. India is a democratic republic. Drafting the constitution took almost 3 years. India has the world's largest constitution. All laws in the constitution can not be broken with no exceptions.
Government: One of the hardest problems for India to handle is their high poverty rates. 179.6 million people in India live in some type of poverty, which is the highest number among any country. The Indian population keeps growing which makes i more difficult to get jobs and live a comfortable lifestyle. The Indian government is struggling to find ones for these people in need.
Government: The Indian Secretariat building is in New Delhi. The building is similar to the United States White House. It is the home of the cabinet of India. The building has four levels, each with about 1000 rooms. There is a North block and a south block. The building was built in the 1910’s. Prime minister Narendra Modi lives on the South block.
History: Mahatma Gandhi was the prime leader of India’s independence movement and encouraged settling conflicts without violence. He used boycott methods instead of war and violence. In his early life, he worked as a lawyer in South Africa. He was killed at age 78 by a man who despised his tolerance of Muslims. Although he was killed in 1948 people still remember the impact he had o India and the world.
History: Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of India. He served from 1919 to 1923. He was a significant leader in Gandhi’s independence movement. He was very wealthy growing up as his father was a lawyer situated in downtown Pakistan. His son, Indira, also served as an Indian Prime Minister. When he opposed their ways, the British kicked him to the curb and he resorted to being financially supported by his friends.
History: The Indo-Pakistani wars began in 1965. Before this, Pakistan was part of India. The people and government of Pakistan did not like following India’s rules and felt that the Indian government were dictating them so they fought for their independence. Pakistan won the war as a result of having more soldiers because not as many Indians were willing to fight about something they didn’t care about. To this day, Pakistan is it’s own country in Asia.
Religion: This picture shows the Badrinath temple. It is the biggest Hindu temple in al of India. The temple is also used as a holy shrine of Lord Vishnu. It is known for being situated near Alaknanda River. Only can be visited from April to November. Hindu people come here to worship their gods and follow the religion of Hinduism. This temple celebrates many festivals every year that are based from Hindu holidays.
