The Swanage Railway Company operates both steam and diesel engine service along a 6-mile (9.7 km) line, which follows the route of the former line from Norden, via Corfe Castle, Harman's Cross and Herston Halt to Swanage. The station here is very nicely restored and well worth a detour when visiting the castle, even if you're not a train buff. Corfe Castle, in the background, is about a 1,000 years old and, unfortunately for us modern day tourists, it was partially demolished in 1646…
