I LOVE Romero Britto! His art is so full of color energy, it wakes me up just to look at it! Just like a cup of coffee! My students loved Britto too, they loved making these cats and dogs. Everyone was able to choose cat OR dog, since some people are cat people and others dog people. My students and I recently made two colorful artworks for our school fundraiser. We painted a stool with acrylic paints. I had kids from grades K-3 come up two or three at a time to take turns painting the sections. After the base layer was dry, we used magazine cutout words to decoupage the stool. I love to make Pop Art to go in the hall when spring gets here. It's so bright and lively! They are great pieces that contrast the past few winter months. I wanted to try this Romero Britto inspired art lesson with Kindergarten, but wasn't sure how they would turn out.
