Dakar Rally (a.k.a. 'The Dakar', or The Paris-Dakar', or 'Paris to Dakar Rally'). Started in 1978, the race went from Paris, France to Dakar, Senegal. Due to security threats in Mauritania the 2008 rally was cancelled. Since 2009 the Dakar Rally has been run in South America (Argentina and Chile). The off-road endurance race is open to amateurs and professionals.
