You don’t want to feel overloaded, and you aren’t convinced there is enough time to get out and explore the best places California has to offer. I thought the same thing, so I set out to discover what you could actually do with seven days in this amazing state. What I discovered was pleasantly surprising.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a 1 square mile village on the coast of California two hours south of San Francisco. It is where we stopped for two nights on our road trip down the coast from Santa Rosa (near Sonoma) to San Diego with our three small children, ages 4 and under.

La Jolla Cove is the perfect seaside spot in La Jolla, San Diego. Home to some beautiful beaches with clear waters to snorkel & swim in, seals & sea lions swimming around, and several stores to shop & get a quick bite in. HELPFUL TIP: Look for parking along Coast Boulevard! 🚙 More often than not, I’ve found parking there right away and it’s directly next to the cove/beach entrance. #sandiego #lajollacove #canondigital #canoncameras
