Tina Zaccardi Bakes on Instagram: "St. Joseph's Day or Festa di San Giuseppe is this Tuesday, March 19th, and it's not just about the Zeppole and Sfingi Pastries. The life of Joseph, patron Saint of fatherhood and workers is celebrated.  It is also Father's Day in Italy. Creating a table or alter is traditional, and it is usually filled with sweets, breads and wine.  Traditional shapes for the bread are crosses, staffs, wheat sheaves, and images of St. Joseph, braids and crowns of thorns. I've done a wheat sheaves design to mark the day.  I used my grandmother's Easter Bread Recipe, which is a sweet dough, but I have also seen less sweet recipes used, covered with sesame seeds.
