Blissfully Sweet - Confetti & Balloons Birthday Cake Last year at this time little Mariette had her 1st birthday party and it was fit for a princess - she had the ultimate dessert table with 9 cakes and a lots of other amazing birthday party treats. This week Mariette turns 2 and a much smaller soiree was planned. Her mum Lorraine asked me to make a cake for her and then we added some sweets, and then some more, and then some decorations and before you knew it a little table was made. Lorraine loved the confetti party thrown by Leanne of Sweet Style - the beautiful simplicity and the confetti theme. The confetti party ware became the main inspiration with lots of pastel shades. The cake was designed to match this party ware as well as the addition of balloons. The cake is tall at 6" round and 9" tall. It made the perfect tall background for the confetti. Small pastel rounds of fondant were embossed into the white fondant and wrapped around the cake. A stitched fondant ribbon around the top of the cake was the perfect little finish. Lots of different sized balloons came out from the top of the cake as if floating above from their fondant ribbons. The cake is lemon coconut cake in 4 different pastel shades to match.
