I feel like the location, specifically the stair case, adds a sort of complexity to this pose that wouldn't necessarily be there had the photo been taken in a regular studio room. The location also gives the image a more formal atmosphere, while emphasizing the modern/contemporary nature of the pose, because it's in an unexpected place for dance performance.
