"Victory or Death" letter, in 2013, returned to the Alamo under police escort. Written at the Alamo by Col. William B. Travis on Feb. 24, 1836 as Santa Anna’s troops began their siege, this letter is considered a Texas treasure and one of the most stirring battleground letters in American history. For the first time since it was written, the iconic letter returned to the Alamo for exhibit from Feb. 23 to March 7, 2013. The letter will be returned to the State Archives Commission.
