Pure Lambswool Bed Blankets
A modern take on the traditional Hudson Bay blanket. These wonderfully thick, pure Lambswool bed blankets are inspired by those made in Britain and traded in Canada for beaver pelts from the late C18th. We’ve worked with the loom setters at Drove Weavers to incorporate their left over wool, creating some wonderful colour combinations while minimising waste.
Shop Scottish craft
Our debut exhibition at Bard is a celebration of the rough and the smooth. Today we are told that a friction-free existence is aspirational. Self-checkouts. Automated ticket machines. Shopping delivered to your door. Ever-more convenience. Noise-cancelling headphones. Glassy touchscreens. Wrinkle-free skin. Veneers. Quiet luxury. Minimal, monochromatic, bland singularity. Blah. Meh. No thank you…
Greetings!
Bard is a shop and gallery for Scottish craft and design, based in Leith, Edinburgh, founded by husbands Hugo Macdonald and James Stevens. We tell stories about ideas, people and objects that forge Scottish cultural identity, past, present and future. If it’s true that we are what we make, then we want to show the world that we are made of more than tartan shortbread tins.
Bard Scotland - Lindean Mill Glass
Lindean Mill Glass is the partnership of Annica Sandström and David Kaplan, who met in the Glass Kingdom of Sweden. The Scandinavian training and workshop experience is reflected in their glassmaking and has greatly influenced their practice. Contemporary-designed tableware and collections of vessels, plates and fused panels are all part of their glassmaking. References to the landscape and the natural world can be seen in the work and glass panels that evoke a sense of place and memory.
Guy Dickinson limited edition prints: 'A Shadow Passes'
This series of 28 photographic prints chart the architect and photographer’s walk through the Black Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye. Their inky depths capture the bleak and treacherous beauty of the legendary location in all its elemental might. Light, weather, geology, water and mood interweave to result in prints that go far beyond visual representation to become “portals more than mirrors” as Guy’s masterful wordsmith Alison Morris so perfectly puts it.

Bard Scotland - Emporium Julium Platters
Julija Pustovrh of Emporium Julium wheel throws these enigmatic discs, combining sand that she collects from Scottish beaches into her stoneware. The resulting platters have a mesmerising, elemental quality. We use them as handy surfaces for all sorts of things, as well as placemats and plates for cheese and canapés.
